Not sure I understand what is going on here. Was the HDD received by you
with Windoze already installed? Were your attempts to reinstall from a
seemingly pristine CD/DVD?

If so, have you tried installing from another CD/DVD (perhaps borrowed?
- just use your own original M$ number)? i.e. is it possible the media
you tried to use is corrupt, rather than the HDD?
