Hi, Dave.  You were in the right place with System Notifications.  Use 
the drop-down list at the top, and I think KDE System Notifications and 
Konsole will be the two selections you need.  You'll see the items 
below change to relevant ones.  Some will show icons for Play a Sound.  
You can change it or remove it there.  HTH
