[Wylug-help] driver for Samsung clp-510 in SuSE 10.0

Hi,

I have attempted to install the driver for my new Samsung clp 510 color
laser printer and am still not printing. When using the vendor cd for
installation YaST gives me the following error, "cd data does not match
running system. Aborting now." So then I downloaded the driver from
Samsung and installed it up to the point of obtaining the administrator
mode required. I give it my su password and then receive the error,
"authentication failed." I've done this several times and am reasonably
sure I am not mistyping my password. The su password works perfectly
well when working from the terminal.
Hence the install fails.

I have worked to install if from the terminal and it shows present when
I ls. Further, using YaST to configure the printer I now have the
option of model number clp-510 and the correct ppd file to choose. But
still the printer does not print, doesn't even wake up.

PS. I dual boot with windozeXP (am looking forward to the day I can
wipe this but still need it since I haven't been able to connect to the
internet via dial up with Linux SuSE 10.0 - wireless is perfect!), the
Samsung installed flawlessly and prints the same so the hardware isn't
the problem.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Jeff
