[Wylug-help] mplayer

I've been having troubles playing video but managed to get Mplayer to work (eventually) last night.? This morning I downloaded some updates which wiped out the Mplayer so I'm now back to square one.? Every time I try to re install Mplayer I get error messages which might mean something to a techie but nothing to me.? Has anybody any ideas
