I don't know.  file just says it's 'data'; mplayer thinks it can play
it, but I just hear odd clicks.

Fortunately, I don't think it matters.  mplayer will happily play all
the recordings I've tried so far, and it I now have a way of getting
radio recordings to my MP3 player (whether in MP2, or using Lame for
conversion to MP3).  That's all I wanted to do.
