If you have ssh to the server, might as well use fish:// URIs under konqueror / 
dolphin.

Not sure what equivalents GNOME has. gFTP is what I've used  for ftp/sftp when 
fish:// isn't available - it works well enough.

Command-line clients are nice and fast but a pain to learn how to use. It's 
like advising someone to use vi or emacs to do all their editing when they've 
just started out...
