Funny you should raise that point as I was thinking the exact same thing the
other day - I am a Linux user, but I am primarily an Open Source Software
user. If I have the choice I will use OSS over proprietry no matter what the
platform. My only real exceptions to this are Photoshop (because I do not
know The GIMP enough yet), UltraEdit (although the split is 50/50 between UE
and GVIM on windows, and swinging towards GVIM) and the ActiveState perl
tools (in particular Komodo and the Perl Development Kit) as there are no
OSS tools that I am aware of that compare. Delphi is another one, but I only
use that for work.

Many people are not aware of the amount of OSS that is available on
Windows...--
