thanks for the tips. We're not using any kinda of layer 3
encryption, just layer 2, and it stinks.. It's very complex
and has taken a lot of reverse engineering to get this far.

I don't think wireless layer 2 encryption is either scalable
or manageable in an enterprise setting. I'd really go for
layer 3 encryption instead. Then you can have any dirt
cheap access point , rather than expensive layer 2
and esoteric , non standard AP's!! ;-)

I can't really give you more background information
at the moment because I don't actually have any.

when dealing with network problems , you can break
it down to three things.

1. Hardware Problems (courrput network card etc etc)
2. Software Problems (incompatible protocol)
3. Policy Problems
These are the hardest to overcome, its easy to find the
first two points, but if your ISP is blocking every packet on
port 1234 , then it's harder to trouble shoot.

Having use lots of different networks, for lots of different reasons , it's almost like you can give a network a personality
test!!!! Perhaps I should create a network score card, so networks can not only be classed on speed and bandwidth,
but on other metrics such as security policy etc etc etc.

lets hope the network is friendly! ;-)

and Active Directory integration options, I've had problems with them
in the past. The problem is it could be a number of things based on
the setup, is there any chance you could give us some more background
information?
