Sure! Borrow it anyway. You never know what might turn up.

My old Laptop was a Toshiba 480CDT on which I ran Mandrake v9.0 and 
later SuSE v8.2.
Mandrake correctly initialised the card on boot, but I had to add 
specific instructions
to get it to load under SuSE.
