Oh, one other point of protocol, while we're at it.

You haven't done anything wrong, but just so you get what's going on:
In Linux world it's good to edit the message(s) that preceeded the one
to which you are replying leaving just what's completely relevant,
then add your next comments at the bottom. A reader may then read the
whole message in the usual way (top to bottom) and be reminded of the
current situation.

This contrasts with Windows world in which the user does not edit
previous messages and writes new stuff at the top.

Obviously a > that precedes a line means it was t'other person wot
wrote it, and >> means it was the one before that, ad infinitum. These
are usually added automagically.
