My mate Des will kill me if GreenH doesn't get a mention here.

His idea is cheap Linux computers with backup and support.

He sees it as a 'franchise' idea - you can sort out your hardware
supplier, or use his contacts. He has a greenh distro, that's meant to
be user friendly and windows-ish, so people don't get freaked out!

Key to the price and the project is that your local linux friendly face
will set it up for you and offer 3 hours of support in the price (around
£200 - these are recycled machines)

So Des, has done a lot of the thinking around this. It's Ubuntu based by
the way.

Not advertising, or advocating, but just to say if people are
interested, then this guy has done a lot of work and thinking about
exactly this.
