Hi Fintan,
This is for Joe too. How do I identify which wireless card I have in my old laptop under Ubuntu?
The laptop is this one

Though I am not sure if the specs match exactly that of my laptop. Can this work under Ubuntu?
What is ndiswrapper?
I am keen to use Ubuntu on a regular basis, so if I can't get the wireless working I might be tempted to revert back to XP, if only to be able to use the laptop for browsing the web.
So save me from the dark side please :-)
Cheers,
Paul.

Subject: [Deaf-lug] old laptop debian installed
Got an old laptop , and i have installed latest Debian typing Boot:
linux acpi=off
Everything working except wireless.
I have a net gear MA521 card installed use ndiswrapper to try and get
it working but it seams the PCMIA switched off.
Did use knoppix live disc and the card lit up but i had problems
configuring it as it seem to disapear on me, but i assume it work work
if i installed knoppix.
Any ideas what i should do to get wireless working?
Fintan
