I spent a very long time using both also...  It's not a bad thing to
do, as they're both very different beasts with pros/cons to each...
Anyway, eventually Emacs won; primarily because of org-mode, which
will show you the true potential of the Emacs O/S:

That said, I still often use vi if I'm logged into a remote terminal
via ssh; though Emacs TRAMP is great for editing files on remote
servers without leaving the editor!
