Have fun - it only gets better and better until after about the=20
eight year mark there's no going back :)=20

I'm just 41. My first computer was a teletype with a paper tape and
a big red phone. (1978). My next at school was the prototype RM 380Z.=20
They didn't have computers at university, so I had to wait until I was=20
24 for an 4.77MHz 8086 with a 30M hard disk. But if you tell that to=20
young folk now, they'd never believe you ... :)

Web empowerment is all very well - but if folk want a whizzy website
NOW they call in a web designer. Everybody's favourite 15 year old
can write HTML as easily as they can send SMS text messages - and often
with as much meaningful content. Good design is worth paying for as
is good maintenance. An awareness of fonts, typography, differing=20
spatial abilities, usage styles, learning styles and accessibility is
a bare minimum. If it can't be coded in a bare text editor, however,
it probably needs to be rethought. A good editor for the purpose
is any that you can use well - the _best_ is vi :)

Take care to distinguish here between fly by night hosting companies who
are selling cheap storage down to a price, with service to match - if
you have a site for $9US per month hosted in Singapore, for example,
you deserve all the hassle you get - and reputable companies e.g.=20
Positive Internet who charge a deal more but provide backup. If you
just sell someone "some web space" and they don't ask the obvious=20
questions, they get clobbered. [In the same way that you could get=20
clobbered at the car auctions when you looking for a sub-=A3300 car=20
unless you were either ultra careful / extremely well informed.]
