Hi all first time on here and i have some intresting
news if your on AOL broadband it is now possible to
connect to AOL directly using linux no need to have a
windoze running an AOL client and using a proxy to
connect which is how i have been doing it in the past,
but now its all changed direct connections are now
working i have been using ECIadsl drivers to configure
the modem for linux in the domain name bit put your
own user name ie username at aol.com and your password in
the password bit then the ip address for aol in dns
and thats about it,
must say it will not work with the BT voyager 100
modem at the moment but there are linux bods looking
at it and hopefully there will be a driver for it
soon, i no the speed touch usb modem works well and
have been using it myself, also you can connect direct
using windows without running AOL on the bt voyager
100 you need to go in to the bt modem control panel
click on connection then change the bt user name to
your own aol e-mail address i.e. username at aol.com and
add your password to the password bit then click dial
and it will connect you can then use IE or mozzila to
browse if you wont to run AOL set it up so it connects
using tcp/ip you can also network and run different
AOL clients with different screenames all at the same
time also works using linux to connect to AOL and
network windoze PC running AOL

please don't phone AOL and ask for help where not
meant to have it yet so they wont help you. you might
also find that it dose not work all the time as there
still testing it all ;O)
i did try sending this using aol but it got bounced
LOL

so have fun playing
