Actually, I ought to clarify here as reading my mail it could give the wrong
impression....

...Martin and Tim insisted that my PC would be better with Debian... they
then got terribly excited that it would boot, albeit not onto a desktop...

All this uncertainty... I am, unfortunately, used to being guided. Not asked
terribly difficult questions at each stage of the install process, to which
I have to guess answers.
