RedHat has a Hardware Compatability List, though it is a pain to use and
I'm not sure how good it is:
  http://hardware.redhat.com/hcl/

You could try searching on Google for "Linux" and the name of the WiFi
card/modem. Quite often you can find bits and pieces of information with
Google.
