Same way.  Debian's initscripts are in /etc/init.d instead of
/etc/rc.d/init.d.  AFAIK, this is also the case for most other distros
now, as it's the location specified in the FHS/LSB.

Slackware, OTOH, doesn't uses SysVinit at all but BSD rc scripts.
