Under Red Hat, you can use "printtool" to configure an SMB printer. 
Just follow the instructions on screen. Other distributions probably
have similar front ends to do the same thing. Failing that, you'll
have to learn the internals of whichever print system you're using
(LPRng, CUPS etc).
