[Gllug] Ethernetworking

Thanks for the advice, luckily my brother has a spare 1GB HD and an
ethernet card.

Am I right in thinking that to network two machines over ethernet I just
need a "crossed over" cable?
But to link more than two I need either an ethernet "hub" or to have one
machine with multiple ethernet cards?
How much are these hubs? (Is this the proper name for them?)
Can anyone recommend a link for an introduction to ethernet networking
under Linux?

Thats fine bar the HD... you can put linux on something that small but
its
not worth the hassle for 10 or 20 quid to buy a gig drive. See the
slackware zip drive distro...

A serial port would work, but for a beginner just bung an el-cheapo
ethernet card in there.

have fun,
