I'd prefer to think that either it would get done more slowly, or it
wasn't worth doing --- but in practice this may only be true if you
think like the hackers who wrote the code :)

(but maybe not. People thought that hackers would never bother to write
user-side applications, but things like Gnumeric pretty much disprove
that.)
