We could have votes as this is a very democratic list and if you do not
believe me meet me behind the bikesheds. We could do a Gllug Linux as I
think it would be a very good learning experience and if someone was to
write up what they are doing then it would be a good reference. I would not
mind having a machine at home and if some guru came on the list each week
telling us what we do next to get it working and off we go trying it on our
PC. I would have no qualms about writing down what I do and if I remember
correctly someone mentioned about writing a NT to Linux manual a few weeks
ago.

As far as preferred apps is concerned we could use the voting system or go
for what is the most common. I have been forced to learn VI recently and
have fallen in love with it. If people want emacs then fair enough its
something else I will learn although the thought scares me. Rather than
going for a killer version why not just try and build the closest to
standard version with no fancy stuff in it. I would be very interested in
doing this as I find the amount of software that comes with these disks is
enormous and distracts me from learning the underlying system to a level of
competency which I would feel comfortable with.
