It was a legitimate question at the time and did lead to some very
interesting points. Although my favourite thread has got to be Quals or
Experience which was a very interesting read considering I do not have a
degree.

What about CCNA CCND etc etc these are much better quals than MS type ones
because they are not so easy to pass. You at least need an understanding of
Networks before taking them. If they say that this has no relevance on the
MS stuff ask them why are we providing solutions to stand alone PC's. Most
of the cisco stuff that you will learn can be used across a wide range of
Jobs from network support to Analysis. You do not even need to be using
Cisco equipment as what you learn would be quite relevant to most networks.
I await a few flames on this one.
