Do people know how well USB works with old motherboards/processors?
A quick Google search suggests that you need a Pentium at least and the
BIOS needs to support USB as well. So does that rule out me using my old
486 as a router/firewall with a USB ADSL modem or is there some way
round this?
Maybe I should just get a cheap Pentium - I guess they must be almost
giving them away now - but will they all work with a USB PCI card in?
>From personal experience no but ymmv, its easier to get a s/h Pentium 1 transition board that had usb on it. Mail me off list this evening & i will look through my bits trunk.
