[Gllug] Linux in Hollywood

Almost ended up having an interview there, but didn't want to work in that
type of industry although the Linux cluster did sound tempting...

I neglected to mention in my original posting that they "claim" to have ONE
of the world's largest Linux clusters - damn my tipping and reding skils.
As you mention, the probability of that is somewhat slim given the massive
computational power of ASCI, etc.

Going back to Hollywood - out of all the post-production studios in the UK -
how DOES have the biggest amount of computational power at their disposal?
Does anybody over here make use of the graphic artists' workstations to help
with rendering?

Regards,

    Martyn

I know a little about Inpharmatica -
I met Paul Callejo, who installed their original cluster,
and have been at meetings where two people from the company have
given talks,
the most recent being "New Science from High Performance Computing"
at the Royal Society.

But, err, Inpharmatica have never claimed to have the world's
largest cluster. And if they did they wouldlook fools.

Just think of the ASCI series at Los Alamos, LLNL, Sandia....

And the big clusters installed and going in at Fermilab, CERN etc.
