[Gllug] how to access virtual consoles?

If you're in a graphical desktop or login screen, you need to use ctrl-alt-F? 
you get consoles on 1-6, and the kernel messages on F10. To get back to KDE 
use alt-F7.

You can set the default run level to 3 [poke around in YaST - don't know 
exactly where it is in 8.1], then you'll land on a console for login. you can 
then start your default desktop with the startx command.
