Sorry - you threw me off by mentioning vi and emacs, neither of which
are 'native' to OS X. Are you after a native app in order to benefit
from all the font-anti-aliasing etc? I guess I'm still a bit puzzled as
to why a natively compiled open source text editor wouldn't do the
business.

Personally, I really like using vim, not least because it works on both
Linux and Windows - and as an added bonus, the proficiency I gain with
it also gives me a headstart when I end up on a system that only has vi
(like the SCO OpenServer Unix system I've had to do some work on
recently). It may not work like a standard Windows application in some
respects (eg. splitting the screen rather than opening a new window) but
the power and cross platform flexiblity are more than enough to persuade
me.

However, whatever you want, man ;-) Not having yet even touched an OS X
box I'll now quietly step back and watch the rest of the conversation,
since I know nothing about native applications for it.
