I pressume that by 100Mbits Lan you mean 100 base-TX (very unlikely to be
anything else if it's a newish machine). IIRC the cabling spec for such
network is:
- cable lengths 100m
- category 5 (Cat 5) UTP or Type 1 STP
So you could be having 2 problems here:
1. You cabling is not category 5. This is quite likely if it was installed
long time ago. N.B. 100TX will often run over old Cat 3 cables but only if
they are quite short.
2. It is possible to get interfernce on UTP cable which can only be solved
by installing STP cable. However this is extremely unlikely in office type
environment. Think factories with big robots with large electric motors etc
...
Either way consider getting a cabling specialist in as John suggested. It
will save time/hassles/money in the long run.
