I get your point, but I liked ical. It was simple, but most of all
it was reliable. Never crashed or lost anything in 10 years of use.

I tried korganizer but it seems to come from the "fighter plane
cockpit" school of user interface design (see: Bugzilla search page,
KDE start menu, etc.). Tried xcal, but it doesn't seem to show a
monthly summary, and it also has that other loathsome interface
problem: opening a new window in order to add an event.
