That's a good idea. I wonder if Philips has though of stinging a few
retailers over the issue - I'm sure they would have a good case. Faced
with the triple choice of lawsuits from Philips, finding space for a
clearly demarked new section for full price disks that won't play in
your computer, or just not stocking those titles, I'm sure the third
option would be tempting, and that would hit the suppliers and thus the
labels. I'm sure online stores would also have to consider setting up
new categories in their online shops and making the limitations clear...
again, a disincentive to online customers (who, one presumes, are more
likely to want to listen to music on a cd drive) and thus another smack
to the labels.
