A little harsh there. Although I agree many companies would not be happy
with it one should not assume they do not allow reading Linux mail lists.
For example many people work long hours and have informal arrangements to
use some of the time for personal development or whatever term is used.

I agree and disagree. In a perfect world this would be great.
Meanwhile in the real world I suggest we try a little tollerance in the
interest of furthering communication - e.g. unfortunately some people I
know devel Linux products at work but are still forced to use Exchange.

That might generally help to reduce spam and provide an improved
experience to many of us however it will severely hamper a newcomer who
uses Microsoft Outlook with default settings and wishes to ask a question.
They might see us as zealoty bigots and never post to the list again.
