Good. You may want to add a line to /etc/modules containing just

Looks like that module is not the correct one for your card - I didn't 
think it would work, but it was worth a try :)

There is nothing to use - it will automatically run on bootup and check 
your hardware, loading the appropriate modules as required. If fact, it 
should detect the via-rhine network card and load the via-rhine module 
for you even if you do not add 'via-rhine' to /etc/modules or modprobe.

Hmm, 'discover' may be able to autodetect the sound card - what have to 
tried in order to find that the sound does not work? Could you try 
after adding yourself you the 'audio' group? Try:

  adduser axel audio

(as root).
