[Gllug] Gentoo on SCSI

Hi,
I tried installing Gentoo but it hangs at:

beginning storage detection
Detected aic7xxx hardware
Scanning for aic7xxx_old...

when booting from a liveCD (stage1).
I've Googled and can tell that others have the same problem but I haven't
found a solution yet. Has anyone else experienced this? And solved it? :-)
