But this isn't even a similar case.  The questioner wants to install Sarge
(which hasn't been released yet).  The easiest way to install Sarge is by
using the Sarge installer (also not released yet).  He's starting from a
position of using unreleased software so using a bit more makes no
significant difference.
We all have to ask the first time we move beyond Stable (and even the
first time we try to get as far as Stable).  Concealing the best tools
won't make the first-time experience of installing Sarge any more
pleasant.
To the OP: If you're interested I have a list of packages I can let you
have which take a basic Sarge installation up to the point of having a
good working desktop.  It's just a case of doing:
    apt-get install `cat list.txt`

after the installation.  Let me know if you'd like a copy.
