[Gllug] Anyone using Linux 2.6.0 on production system?

Does that mean you are only running 2.0.x kernels?

The exploit was across all 2.2+ kernels as you state above so this isn't 
overly convincing as a reason to avoid one branch.

I do agree with you however that 2.6 shouldn't be used by those who 
require a stable environment yet. It's just too new and like any new 
kernel the wise will allow time for others to get caught out by 
unexpected issues.

The main problem with 2.4 was the complete replacement of the vm layer at 
2.4.10 which put the whole thing back to a .0 release in terms of waiting 
for it to become truely stable.

I understand that this kind of thing is not likely to happen with 2.6 so I 
am hopeful that I can safely try it on a server or two in a few months 
time.

For now I'd advise only those willing to accept the possibility that their 
kernel will need to be replaced fairly often (with the resulting downtime) 
to run a 2.6 kernel.
