Because on a single driver SCSI only server you don't then don't need
an initrd to boot from. Also in a production environment you really
don't want kernels that people can add random modules to.
initrds should only be used as either an install mechanism or when
really whacky hardware prevents using a normal bootloader/kernel
configuration. E0.02
