Hi All,

With Christmas fast approaching, I wandered into a three-for-two shop (Do all bookshops offer the same thing?) to look for a present for someone. Naturally I ended in the Computer section and found a copy of a book that I use myself. The book was recommended by someone I completely trust and is the Linux Administration Handbook by Nemeth, Snyder and Hein.

I use this book as a reference when I need to check something (although that then usually takes me down twisted paths of other information). I would not like to use just this to learn about a subject, but as a well-thumbed copy close at hand, it is cherished.

Can anyone recommend any other books for reference on Linux related topics such as Perl or security. What do people turn to to check something?

John
