As an alternative to mini-itx, I built a new machine for home recently
based on a Soltek Qbic EQ3901:
http://xev.us/K (shorter link)
Small, looks nice and while not completely silent it's extremely quiet.
Has an AGP slot and a PCI slot, in which I've got a Nova-T DVB card
(which I haven't got working in linux unfortunately).
AIUI the "new" Nova-T chipset does work, but I've yet to figure out how
- I've not put an enormous amount of time into it though.
The computer itself is great though and I'd recommend these barebones
systems, especially if you want something with a bit of oomph.
cheers,
doug.
