I was bitten by this recently.  I "assumed" a belkin wireless card would 
be supported under Linux.  Turns out it was based on the BCM4306 chipset 
which is not supported under Linux.  Even more annoyingly, I can't use 
ndiswrapper to get the card working as it seems to dislike 64 bit 
environments.
