What format did you download the updates in?
- i.e is the file you downloaded called <something>.rpm or
<something>.tar.bz2 ?
something you might also wish to try is firing up the yast tool (it'll
be in your menus somewhere - a proper SuSE user will be able to tell you
where) and see if there is an entry for online updates, which might be
the most sensible way to install these things. Assuming you have the
bandwidth to cope
also, it would help readability on the list if you would bottom-post
your replies
(this means quoting the relevant portions of an email you are answering
and putting your replies in under the parts of the original email that
they refer to, a bit like Steve did, and I am doing now)

not offhand, but normally I would expect SuSe to pick this up automatically.
