[Gllug] Raising awareness of GLLUG meetings

Hello,

The meeting attendance numbers since I started organising them has
hovered between 20 and 35 people per meeting. These numbers did quell
the horrible feeling I had on the tube to the first couple of meetings
that NO-ONE would show :-)

However - at the moment we have 593 people subscribed to this mailing
list (including a fair number of duplicate subscriptions and a few
odds and ends in Hong Kong and other far flung places) so the number
of physical attendees isn't fantastic.

I'd like to get a small number of people together out of the group to
help raise awareness of our meetings.

The kind of people I had in mind would:

 * Be members of computer clubs or societies in London other than
GLLUG (or Lonix and London.pm)
 * Be regular visitors to computer fairs
 * Attend a college or university in Greater London
 * Be in a position to leave leaflets in local computer shops

You would need to download and print copies of the meeting flyer and
distribute them.

I'd like actual names so we can monitor when and where they are left
and see if it draws new faces to meetings.

The flyer for the next meeting on Sept 16th is available now.

( I apologies for the bloated size (500Kb) but I wanted to rush it out )

If you are going to distribute the flyers please let me know offlist.
If you have any ideas or comments about our low meeting attendance
numbers I would love to have a discussion thread about it here!

Thanks
