Are you saying that you have had a bad experience ?

Who has done this, how often, how recently, success/fail ?

The first time that I did it was on a Dec OSF/1 system 10 odd years ago,
advfs - worked well.

Recently on Linux, Reiser & ext3 (twice) worked without problem.
