Thanks for that. I have ordered a card from Novatech which should arrive
tomorrow. I've read all the stuff about various cards and only got confused,
hence my request for a specific source of a card known to work. It seems to
be almost impossible to find out exactly which chipset is on any particular
model. Not only with tv cards but also wi fi cards, the suppliers never seem
to know and as far as I could tell with XP and the previous card that won't
tell you either. Having said that I have an XP installation purely for my
son's gaming. and the less I have to do with it the better I like it.
Yes lsmod was with no tv cards installed. and yes I have an SB live. It's the
one with the external box. I feed my sound into an external hi fi set up and
it makes a really nice noise.
Not sure about /dev/dvb, how would I find out ?
