My ISP provides optional spam filters on all incoming mail, and monitors
all outgoing mail, that uses its smarthost, but that assumes that customers
use a demon.co.uk address. Commercial customers would not usually wish to do
that. No ports are blocked, and you may obtain a fixed IP, but no DNS
pointer is supplied for home/office customers using demon.co.uk.
It is however possible to obtain an independant domain name and organise
a DNS pointer to the fixed IP address.
This is of little interest to a compromised machine, if there is a way it
will probably be well known.
