In my (limited) experience of the web-hosting world (LAMP stack), Debian
/ Ubuntu are by far the most favoured distros.

I've tried to use fedora / redhat in the past on the desktop and managed
 to get into a very nasty dependency mix. After 2 days of struggling to
upgrade firefox, and install thunderbird from rpm packages, I gave up
and re-formatted back to Ubuntu.
