Now that you put me on the spot I really can't say. They're all a LOT
closer than Reading for London residents and many people would be able
to reach them without the kind of crippling commute where you travel
into the centre along one spoke and out again along a different one.
Unlike Reading which involves the previously discussed hassle of
getting to Paddington etc.

Of those places you mention, several are London boroughs, yet none
except perhaps Ealing is really "London". On the other hand they're
all plausible work locations for people in Greater London. Reading
definitely seems to be pushing it too far for GLLUG. IMO.

Maybe I'm wearing rose-tinted specs but I don't think anybody's cast
any particular aspersions on the job itself or the salary it offers.
Although it has been argued that the salary will be considered as
lower in real terms given the cost to *get* to Reading for most of the
list denizens.
