SGI kit has superb remote serial console and hardware diagnostics access.
They put what is termed a 'Level 3' controller in your machine room -
just a Linux PC really.
This connects to 'Level 2' controllers on each machine, and each
'brick' in the machine has a lower level Level 1 controller. You get
serial console access of course, and remote power down/power up,
ability to reset and to issue a non-maskable interrupt.
