I seem to find these days that I only need/want one Emacs per host I'm
logged in to. The routine goes

here$ ssh thathost
there$ screen -x
and you're back in the screen session where you left off. One emacs
window, one or two top or tails or w.h.y., one shell outside emacs and
one inside it. Simple.
