"Now SCSI controllers reserve several hundred disk blocks to be remapped
to replace fading sectors with unused ones". Surely a) this is the disk
controller firmware, not the SCSI controller, and b) surely that figure
is *way* too low. Last I checked a significant percentage of the disk
was comprised of spare sectors.

No mention of the data-corruption case with non-battery-backed RAID-5 if
you lose power while writing a stripe.
