I also use mutt and read text by preference, but because some pains
(who prob don't know better) just send html email (or a text equivalent which
is not equivalent) I have in my .muttrc:

	# Suggested by Rev Simon Rumble
	auto_view text/html
	alternative_order text/plain text/html

and in my .mailcap:

	# This stops the following of links to who knows where:
	text/html; lynx -force_html -dump %s ; copiousoutput

This latter allows me to choose the html attachment ('v' to view
attachments, move down to the attachment & press enter) and displays is
reasonably.

Works for me.

If someone can suggest something better with mutt I would be interested
in hearing of it.
